About Dairyland
Dairyland Insurance started out in 1953 in Wisconsin, but was acquired by Sentry Insurance in 1966. Marketing themselves as an affordable auto and motorcycle insurance company, Dairyland has focused on making general auto insurance and motorcycle insurance available at a comparatively lower rate than the market average.
To add on to this, Dairyland specifically specializes in providing insurance for high-risk drivers, and those with a poor driving history who cannot purchase insurance from other companies. High-risk drivers are those who are either new drivers who have just received their driving license, drivers with violation records such as for speeding and DUI conviction, drivers who have had multiple and frequent minor violations such as accidents and parking tickets, or those who have had to file a SR-22 or FR-44.

Two Cents on Dairyland As A Potential Insurance Carrier
The ratings and positioning of Dairyland as an affordable and reliable choice for auto and motorcycle insurance speak for themselves. Right from their ranges of standard and specialty coverages to their elaborate discount schemes, they definitely have a lot to offer, and that too at a cheaper rate than any other auto insurance company. If you are considering getting your ride insured through Dairyland, have a look through some of the points we’ve gathered for you:
Elaborate Policies
You might have gone through the product section of this Dairyland insurance review above. However, let’s just focus on it one more time, shall we? Dairyland offers your standard auto insurance policies such as collision coverage, comprehensive coverage, uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage, personal injury protection, and body injury liability. In addition to these, you can also choose from specialty coverages and add-ons to be included in your policy. Special equipment, replacement cost coverage, guest passenger coverage, and rental reimbursement are just a few. So, if you’re looking forward to highly specialized coverage, then Dairyland could be your potential insurance carrier.
Ideal for High-Risk Drivers
Dairyland caters majorly to high-risk drivers in the U.S. market, and thus, puts themselves as probably the first choice for these individuals. They also offer a SR-22 and a lienholder policy for the same.
If you are a high-risk driver, a SR-22 certificate is primal to prove that you have your vehicle insured for the minimal amount as required by the state law in order to get back on the road again. Without it, you may not be able to drive. Insurance carriers such as Safeco and Nationwide do not provide this certificate. However, if you’re thinking of choosing Dairyland, then you’re in for luck. They take care of your SR-22 requirements as soon as you place a request, and they do not take filing charges either.
Should you have your bank or financial institution backing up your auto loans, then you can also apply for the lienholder policy. This policy enlists the financial institution as a lienholder in your standard auto insurance policy.
Increased Eligibility for Discounts
One more commendable point of Dairyland is surely their pool of diverse discounts available for both auto and motorcycle insurance. Here are the discounts you can choose from when you purchase a policy from Dairyland.
Auto Insurance Discounts
Multicar | Earlier Signer |
New Customer | Anti-Theft Devices |
Driver Education | Policy Bundling |
Paid-in-Full | |
Motorcycle Insurance Discounts
Multicycle | Rider Groups |
Harley Owners Group (HOG) |
Homeowners |
Rider Safety Courses |
High Number of Customer Complaints
Despite the strong ratings for Dairyland’s financial strength, and their elaborate history, the insurance carrier has received a rating of 2.69 from NAIC. This is distinctively high, and shows that there are more complaints filed against the company than the national average. You can have a look at the next section for an example of the reviews provided by Dairyland customers.
Expensive Policies
Although their auto insurance rates are comparatively cheaper than the standard auto insurance companies, they still fall on the expensive side. This is because the insurance carrier caters mostly to high-risk drivers, rather than the regular customers seeking personal or commercial auto insurance.
Sample Customer Reviews
Now that we’ve covered the major parts, it’s also essential to keep in mind the community’s response before you jump right in. Have a look through what a sample of Dairyland customers have to say about the company below.
I have never got a better rate. Hate to put this out there but for other users I will…. I had to put an SR22 onto my insurance and they found me the cheapest rate I’ve ever had in my history of insurance. It is cheaper than my insurance without having a sr22! Woohoo! Not to mention the customer service was efficient and superior.
I was involved in a car accident yesterday around 8am. My car got totaled and still have not heard from these people. The other party’s insurance already contacted. When I go and call these people, they give me attitude. I’ve been a customer for 5 years. This is ridiculous.
The first representative was very rude and demeaning in her voice tonality and demeanor. She was not good at answering questions and seemed like I wasn’t supposed to have any to ask. She was very short and rushed me off the phone before I was totally clear with everything that was going to happen. I called back a few minutes later to see if I could get some more clarification and the next rep was not that much better.
I had to contact this company because this is the insurance the driver who hit us uses. Absolutely the worst customer service I have ever seen in my life. Completely uncaring employees who offered up below the minimum amount of information required. Spoke to them on Friday and then Tuesday, and on Tuesday they offer up they only do inspections on Monday and we need to wait another week. They didn’t call back the number we provided and instead left voicemails on an old unchecked number off of the insurance company paperwork. The adjuster was callous, curt, and uninterested in listening to anything. I pity anyone that has to do business with this company.
The only reason I went with this company is because I was able to get insurance on a Sunday and their commercials made them sound really good. The rate I am paying with this company for basic liability is more than what I was paying for full coverage with my last insurance company by almost $100, this is definitely not a savings. I will not be staying with this company for long.
